NEW FEATURES IN THE 2.0

Changelog 2.0 -> 2.1

Added a video output publishing feature and an Animation Camera object. This quickly renders your animated scene and encodes a video on the fly using either h.264, mpeg2, raw or theora video codec. The video output be used both for animated scenes where you enable the still picture quality mode for maximum quality. And it can also be used to capture your interactive walk through on the fly. In the later case make sure to disable the still picture quality mode and at best use the mpeg 2 encode.
Complete rewrite of the Depth Of Field effect. The new implemententation is fully physically accurate. And therefor needs correctly scaled objects. It supports bokeh shaped depth of field including chromatic aberration. There are two different shaders available one real time implementation and high quality version that gets enabled when the Still Picture Quality Mode is enable. For example when you want to render out a high quality movie.
Point cloud rendering speed up for most nivdia and ati cards
Added suppport for .c2m point cloud file format (Clouds2Max)
Several nivdia specific speed optimizatios
Added mouse smoothing and movement moothing for the walkthrough camera
Improved anti ghosting for temporal AA
Added camera offset and mousesmoothing feature for the object camera
Added missing create trigger button in 2D Button
Several new bloom and exposure settings and features added
Bugfix license activation (wrong password endless loop)
Bugfix: motionBlur and skybox "warping"
Startup Failure Bugfix for latest product update 6 of 3dsm Max 2013
Several minor bugfixes

New Features in 2.0

Visual Programming The new node based Actions-Entities now allow to easily create complex interactions including conditional execution by using the 3ds Max Slate material editor interface. For more information see: Action
New Actions Switch Action, Delay, Multi Action, Switch Action, Set Global Variable, Copy Position
LUA Scripting is now available to create even more complex interactions.
Motion Blurring both for camera and object movement.
Automatic Exposure Control. The exposure control is always activated and can be configured inside the Camera Post FX.
Point Cloud Rendering You can now directly integrate common point cloud files (.pts, .xyz) Further a converter tool is available that can convert these files to a faster and smaller binary file format to reduce loading times. For more information see: Point Cloud
New Anti Aliasing Method MLAA/TAA that combines MLAA with temporal antialiasing. This approach allows a higher rendering quality including sub pixel anti aliasing with a higher rendering speed. Further alpha test masked objects are also antialiased using this method.
4x Super Sampling allows a near perfect picture quality for dynamic scenes. Though a decent graphics card is required.
8x,16x and 81x Super Sampling for still pictures This is a new still picture super sampling mode. If enabled an even better supersampling method (8x, 16x, 81x) is used to render a still frame as soon as you release the mouse button and stop moving the camera.
Real Time Glossy Reflections. Our innovative voxel raytracer now offers the worlds first solution for rendering glosssy reflections in real time. Tipps: The implementation is designed to be used with a bump or normal map. So that slight imperfections like a perfect flat mirror like object artifacts are not visible. Again a decent graphics card is required.
Dynamic Global Illumination the GI solution has been replaced with the same voxel raytracer that drives the Real Time Glossy Reflections and is major step forward in quality and performance. The solution is also completely unique is its abaility to directly use self illumination materials without additional performance cost. Currently there is no competing product available anywhere that produces a similar quality in real time. Note that our new solution does not require ANY kind of preprocessing. Really, a decent graphics card is required.
Ambient OcclusionThe GI solution now also offers a high quality Ambient Occlusion
Fresnel reflection terms interpreted from the specular color
Improved Dynamic Shadows Faster and better visual quality is now offered by ower unique adaptive variance shadows maps.
Skydome offering a complete sky solution for sunlight, its shadows and Image based Sky Lighting. The shadows are optimized for large scale scenes, using parallel split adaptive variance shadow shadow maps. For for information see: Sky Dome
The Camera Post FX has been greatly enhanced with the following new features
Filmic Tonemapping using a general color lookup table (LUT) and presets for real world photographics and movie cameras. You can configure this in the Camera Post FX
High Quality Film Grain - Post Effect This post effect realistically simulates the film grain effect of real 35mm and 16mm movie cameras and photographic film.
Vignette - Post Effect
Bleach By Pass - Post Effect
Improved Bloom Effect
Support for 3ds Max 2013 both 32bit and 64bit
Floating Viewport The floating viewport (when "Start" is pressed) comes now with fast on-the-fly updates, for all changes made to your scene. The floating viewport does not exit, if the close button is pressed to reduce startup time. You can force to close it by pressing ALT-X.
Photoshop .psd format support plus some other new texture formats (pcx, gif, tif) can now be used directly

Improvements

The Occlusion culling system has been further optimzed.
Better File Reference Handling
Under Windows Vista/7 there is no need to run in admin mode to publish files anymore
VRAY 2.0 lightmaps and materials are now supported. Just make sure VRAY is configured as production renderer. For more information see: Lightmap Editor.

Removed features and remarks

Support for Max 9 and below has been removed.
The DirectX Shader Material will be removed in the next update. Its going to be replaced with a much more advanced solution.
Cubemap Reflections map etc have been removed as they are obsolete with the voxel raytracer
